Overview:
On 7 July 2016, Neftaly successfully implemented a youth development initiative in partnership with CATHSSETA. The project aimed to provide 3,010 young people with practical skills, mentorship, and exposure to opportunities in the Culture, Arts, Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality sectors. This initiative was designed to enhance employability, entrepreneurial capacity, and sector-specific knowledge among South African youth.
Objectives:
- To equip youth with the necessary skills for meaningful participation in the Culture, Arts, Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality sectors.
- To provide career guidance, mentorship, and training resources to support sustainable employment or entrepreneurship.
- To strengthen youth engagement through experiential learning and exposure to industry practices.
Implementation Details:
- Training Sessions: Interactive workshops and seminars were conducted covering career pathways, industry trends, and practical skill development.
- Mentorship: Youth participants received guidance from sector professionals, providing insights into career progression and personal development.
- Engagement Activities: Activities included group exercises, role-playing, and case studies to foster teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Support Materials: Participants were provided with learning resources and toolkits to assist in ongoing skills development.
Outcomes:
- 3,010 youth successfully participated in the initiative.
- Increased awareness among participants of career and entrepreneurial opportunities within CATHSSETA sectors.
- Enhanced practical skills, confidence, and readiness to enter the job market or start entrepreneurial ventures.
Conclusion:
The project, delivered by Neftaly in partnership with CATHSSETA, achieved its objective of empowering youth with essential skills and knowledge to thrive in the Culture, Arts, Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality sectors. The initiative stands as a testament to the impact of collaborative efforts between industry stakeholders and youth development organizations.
